Welcome to AY Missions Blog! We will be writing the story of 35 students and leaders as they learn, grow, and are challenged as they serve the community of Joplin, MO.

On May 22, 2011 the town of Joplin was hit by a catastrophic EF5 multiple-vortex tornado. At it's widest the tornado stretched out over 1 mile. 158 people were killed by the tornado and around 1,000 injured. It was the deadliest tornado in America since 1947.

A year later, rebuilding is in full swing. Teams from all over the country have come to help rebuild. We pray that our efforts will help those in need and show the love of Christ!
